NEW STANTON, Pa. — The owner of the Bruster’s Ice Cream Shop in New Stanton is looking to make repairs quickly after a man vandalized the store over the weekend.

“Those are good people, and they are just trying to run a business, and yeah, I hope they catch him,” said Melanie Miller, who works in New Stanton.

That’s the reaction from the New Stanton community after their local Bruster’s was vandalized over the weekend.

Video shows a man wearing a blue hood and a backpack taking a large metal grate and crashing it through the ice cream shop’s front window.

The owner, Angelo Poulich, said the man then dragged glass all through the business and left with only the change in the tip jar, some ice cream, and some whipped cream. The window is now boarded up, and Poulich said he cannot believe someone would do this.

“I was hoping that he would just say, ‘Yeah, I did it,’ and turn himself in, and everyone could get along with their lives,” said owner Angelo Poulich.

Channel 11 saw state police around New Station interviewing different people who matched the photo description. Ultimately, they let everyone go. Poulich says he’s received dozens of tips and knows state police will get to the bottom of it soon.

“We have to have restoration come in, clean everything up,” said Poulich, “And the product is all destroyed.”

He said the timing of the vandalism is not ideal since it won’t be long before the temperatures drop. He has owned the store for 11 years and is hoping to have it reopened by the end of the week so they can get as much business as possible before the cold sets in.

“I want to just thank everyone…state police, all of the people that are calling in with support,” said Poulich. “Hopefully we can get back and operating real soon here for everyone.”

The owner said he is thankful none of his employees got hurt.
