Fourth of July weekend road/river closures & restrictions

PITTSBURGH — Many activities are planned during this holiday weekend. With activities along our rivers, Downtown and on the North Shore, the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety Department would like to inform the public of various road, river and parking restrictions.

In addition to the fireworks show, the 2015 EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta will be a major attraction.

The United States Coast Guard will establish partial and full river closures as needed.

There will be a temporary no docking zone commencing at 8 a.m. July 3 and ending at 11:50 p.m. July 5 from mile 0.3 (west edge of the Rivers Casino) along the Ohio River to mile 0.6 (Roberto Clemente Bridge/6th Street Bridge) along the Allegheny River to mile .05 (Pumphouse, 330 feet from the Point upriver) along the Monongahela River.

The United States Coast Guard will establish partial and full river closures as needed to accommodate the below listed Regatta events:

Dragon Boat races/jetski events/boat parade safety zone

There will be a partial river closure on the Allegheny River from Point State Park to mile 0.6 (Roberto Clemente Bridge), extending 350 feet from the left descending bank on July 3 from noon to 10:30 p.m.; July 4 from noon to 10 p.m.; and July 5 from noon to 7 p.m.

Anything That Floats

There will be a partial river closure on the Allegheny River from the Heinz Quay to mile 0.3 (Mazeroski Way), extending 350 feet off the right descending bank on July 5 from noon to 7 p.m.

Powerboat Races Safety Zone

There will be a full river closure along the Allegheny River from Point State Park to mile 0.6 (Roberto Clemente Bridge) on July 4 from noon to 10 p.m.; and on July 5 from noon to 7 p.m.

Fireworks

There will be a full closure of the three rivers from the west edge of the Rivers Casino on the Ohio River to mile 0.05 (restroom, 330 feet from the Point upriver) on the Allegheny River and to mile 0.05 (Pumphouse, 330 feet from the Point upriver) on the Monongahela River, extending the entire width of the rivers, on July 4 from noon to 10 p.m. The specific position of the barge will be determined by the Pittsburgh Fire Department shortly before the event takes place and the safety zone will be set as necessary.
