PITTSBURGH — Police have filed charges against a woman they say fled a three-vehicle crash in Pittsburgh’s West End on Monday night.
One person was taken to the hospital after the crash, which happened around 8:30 p.m. on West Carson Street at the West End Bridge ramp.
Court records obtained by Channel 11 show a Jeep Liberty drove into the wrong lane and crashed head-on into a BMW X6. The Jeep then hit a third vehicle, a Honda Accord.
The Honda’s driver told police that a woman then jumped out of the Jeep and said, “He is going to kill me,” before leaving the scene on foot.
Police say the BMW’s driver didn’t remember the crash, though he suffered a bruised liver, bruised kidneys and a cut to his arm that required stitches.
Police reportedly found an ID card belonging to 47-year-old Angela Cooks of Pittsburgh inside the Jeep.
Officers tried to contact Cooks, but records say she was “vague and uncooperative.”
Dashcam video from the Honda shows the Jeep swerving into the opposite lane right before the crash, police say.
Records note that Cooks’ driving privileges were suspended at the time of the crash.
An arrest warrant was issued for Cooks after the Honda’s driver identified Cooks from a photo lineup. At this time, she is not in custody.
Cooks is charged with several traffic-related offenses, online court records show.
