During the fall, Behr sustained an injury to his face and neck area, police said. He was treated at the scene and taken to the Seven Springs Ski Patrol medical office, where emergency medical technicians continued treatment.
According to State Police, Behr did have a helmet on. The second skier was a juvenile.
Behr was pronounced dead at the office by the Somerset County coroner.
Buchan released the following statement Sunday on behalf of Seven Springs:
"Our entire mountain family is deeply saddened by the tragic accident that occurred last evening. While we continue to work to uncover the details of how this occurred, our thoughts and prayers go out to this gentleman's family, friends and loved ones during this unspeakably difficult time."
Channel 11's Carly Flynn Morgan spoke to Helen Sparkenbaugh, Behr's friend and neighbor of 20 years, who said she fell to the floor when she heard the news.
"He was very, very jolly. You always saw Jeff's smiling face. He was a very happy person. And he loved people and he loved children," Sparkenbaugh said.
State police continue to investigate.
This is the third deadly accident to occur at Seven Springs since 2012.
Two years ago, Fran Strane of Penn Township died from injuries she sustained after an accident on the slopes.
In 2012, David McClelland, 36, of Kennedy Township died when he hit his head on rocks after losing control of his skis.
