Suspect identified in Butler Township SWAT situation

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The active SWAT situation in Butler Township on Saturday has led to one person being behind bars.

The situation took place at a house, near the intersection of Freeport Road and Center Ave.

An officer on scene told Channel 11 that this was a domestic situation, with one person in custody and another in the hospital being treated for injuries.

In a release from the Butler Township Police Department, 38-year-old Butler native Kenneth Eugene Snyder Jr. is accused of stabbing a 39-year-old man multiple times around the torso and leg. Snyder also made threats to kill responding police officers.

Snyder is currently being held in the Butler County Prison and is charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats, according to the release.

The victim, who wasn’t identified, was taken to Butler Hospital and is in stable condition.
