BETHEL PARK, Pa. — Bethel Park police are going through video from inside South Hills Village Mall to catch three juveniles who stole from a store.
Employees told police they believe one of them had a gun.
“I’m going there right now. I’m not sure what to think about that. We don’t have that type of experience at this mall,” Tony Andreaggi said.
It was Friday afternoon right before 5 p.m. when Bethel Park Police went to South Hills Village Mall after employees called 911.
Dispatch recordings give a play-by-play.
“South Hills Village mall complaint states that outside of the AT&T, now by the food court. Three black juveniles concealing firearms in their backpacks. Supposedly handguns, left the food court.”
Bethel Park police say the three juveniles stole from the Zumiez store inside the mall. When an employee looked inside one of their open backpacks, they saw what they thought was a gun.
“They say they’re heading back towards the food court,” the dispatch recording continues. “They’re going to be somewhere between the Zumiez and the food court. They were threatening some of the employees.”
“Them kids just get in your face. They won’t move. They’re ignorant, arrogant and they just don’t have any discipline,” Bill Szott said.
Lifelong South Hills neighbors don’t think the juveniles are anyone local.
“I’d say it’s a 90% chance they’re not from around here,” Szott added.
Bethel Park Police continue their search for the three responsible.
