PITTSBURGH — A Channel 11 viewer contacted us Thursday asking for help with a repeat problem for drivers in Glenshaw.
Brandon Farrell told Channel 11's Carly Flynn Morgan that a deep sinkhole has opened on Maple Avenue, causing major headaches.

“It’s definitely a problem,” he said. “If I tell people I live on Maple Avenue, I have to tell them there’s a big sinkhole at the bottom of the street.”
The hole’s about two feet long and one foot wide. According to neighbors, it’s getting deeper every day.

Although Maple Avenue is a Shaler Township road, Glenn Avenue belongs to the county.
Allegheny County Public Works told Morgan the same area was an issue about a year and a half ago. They repaved the hole then, but it started caving in again a few weeks ago.
The county blames old, rotten and collapsed storm water pipes underneath the road.
“Now it’s just a gigantic sinkhole in the middle of one of the most traveled roads in the Glenshaw area,” Farrell said.
Allegheny Public Works District One Supervisor Jim Schrott said they have a plan in place to start work on the hole Wednesday. He expects it to be done by Friday.
