Rt. 8 in Glenshaw closed for several hours after car takes out utility pole

GLENSHAW, Pa. — Route 8 in Glenshaw was closed for several hours early Thursday morning after a car crashed into a utility pole.

Emergency workers said the driver of a van somehow lost control, hit the pole and then went through a nearby fence.

The road reopened after utility crews repaired the damaged pole.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital. It is not clear what caused the crash.
