Store where man was fatally shot trying to stop robber targeted again

SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police responded to the report of a robbery Saturday night at the same South Strabane Township supermarket that was the scene of a fatal robbery earlier this month.

According to the criminal complaint, officers responded to the Giant Eagle in Strabane Square around 9:30 p.m. Saturday for the report of a robbery.

Witnesses at the scene told police that they saw a man, later identified as Brian Fodor, jump over the counter of a vacant cigarette station and steal more than $1,100 worth of cigarettes.

Several store employees and an off-duty police officer chased Fodor and held him until police arrived, the complaint said.

Sharon Beisner’s husband helped tackle Fodor.

“The guy jumped over the counter and my husband goes chasing after him out through the parking lot. I didn't know what was going on. I went out calling his name,” said Beisner.

Fodor remains in the Washington County Jail on $100,000 bond.

The scene was eerily similar to one on June 16 when 46-year-old Vincent Kelley was fatally shot as he chased a man who robbed the Citizens Bank inside the Giant Eagle.

Citizens Bank and Giant Eagle have teamed up to offer a $50,000 reward to anyone who provides police with information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the man who fatally shot Vincent.
