Accident near Seneca Valley High School forces road closure; 2 hurt

HARMONY, Pa. — Emergency officials said two vehicles were involved in a serious accident near Seneca Valley High School Monday.

The crash happened on Seneca School Road just after 8 a.m.

A tractor-trailer overturned onto a pickup truck.

Channel 11 was there as paramedics did what they could to keep the man trapped in the truck calm.

The pickup truck was dangling over a hillside for a time, so crews had to be careful when they removed the tractor-trailer

Channel 11's Jennifer Tomazic reported the tractor-trailer was on its way to a nearby landfill when it overturned onto the pickup truck.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital.  Their names and conditions weren't released.

The accident did not impact school traffic and students were not involved.

Seneca Valley School District officials posted this message on the high school's website saying, "As you may be aware, a truck rollover and resulting two-vehicle accident took place on Seneca School Road this morning. The response and cleanup have necessitated that first responders close down that section of road near the secondary campus in Jackson Township.

"For this reason, parents/visitors on our campus today can only enter using the Hartmann Road side. Additionally, we have been notified that this roadway may be closed for some time and are preparing for dismissal today that would take all of our buses out of campus heading east to start. Please know this temporary rerouting may cause delays for the secondary drop off and possibly even elementary."
