WEXFORD, Pa. — Several cars and a tractor-trailer were involved in multiple crashes on Interstate 79 in Wexford Wednesday.
Emergency crews said the accidents happened at the Wexford interchange in Franklin Park shortly after 10 a.m.
According to PennDOT spokeswoman Juliann Sheldon, there were crashes in both directions.
"A truck may have crossed the median causing both crashes," Sheldon said.
Traffic was down to a single lane in both directions for over an hour while crews worked to clear the scene. Just before 1 p.m., all southbound and northbound lanes reopened.
Initial reports indicate that one person was hurt, however that person was alert and talking when emergency crews arrived.
State police are now investigating.
