BULLSKIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — People in Bullskin Township are frustrated. They told Channel 11 their trash hasn’t been picked up in three weeks. Trash cans are now spilling out at the end of each driveway.
“I’m a single person, and as you see, I have a lot and I can’t even imagine what these bigger families are doing right now,” said Oak Estates Neighbor, April McKeel.
People in Oak Estates say their trash hasn’t been picked up in three weeks. The property management team listed as Mount Pleasant MHP LLC online emailed neighbors saying they are “Sorry for the inconvenience” and they will “Let everyone know when trash will be picked up.” But one week later, trash is now overflowing.
“It’s been over three weeks since our garbage has been picked up, and we have no place to put it elsewhere,” said Oak Estates neighbor Charles Kinzey. “We are piling it up on the porch, and the landlord is going to be on our case, and we just can’t put up with that.”
Bullskin Township does not have a mandatory trash service, so each property owner can choose their provider. Channel 11 called the management team Thursday morning, and although we did not get a response, neighbors did. They got an email shortly after our phone call telling residents they would be bringing a “30-yard dumpster” to the neighborhood, and people were not pleased.
“I don’t see how we can do that,” said Kinzey. “I don’t know. They have to bring it pretty close to people’s places for it to be transferred.”
The trash cans in the neighborhood say Republic, but when neighbors called the trash service, they were shocked to hear their response.
“He had reached out to Republic Services and was told that Oak Estates is no longer on contract for garbage pickup due to financial reasons and that was all they stated, and that came from the garbage company directly,” said McKeel about her neighbor. “We still haven’t heard anything from the actual mobile park.”
Neighbors said they are still paying a trash bill and need answers from the management team.
“I’ve called a few times already with no response. We have a property manager that’s in and out of the office. She’s supposed to be there three days a week; sometimes she isn’t, so you can’t get a hold of anybody,” said McKeel.
Township Supervisor Chris Ohler said the neighbors can go to the Township and file a complaint. That will allow the code enforcement officer to go to the property and hold the owners or the trash company accountable.
