‘Still a few weeks left’: Omar Khan gives update on Joey Porter Jr.’s contract situation

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has been on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list since the start of training camp. Porter aggravated his back during a morning mobility workout and conditioning test.

Porter is also up for a new deal, as he is entering the final season of his rookie contract. He is expected to get a contract extension this offseason, though general manager Omar Khan said at the beginning of training camp that no deal is imminent.

“There’s interest,” Khan said when asked about potentially extending Porter and other players on the roster. “You’d like to keep them all.”
