PITTSBURGH — The suspect accused in a slaying more than a year ago had a preliminary hearing Friday.
Prosecutors say surveillance video shows 21-year-old Samuel Mitchell killing 32-year-old Michael Wilson in Northview Heights last year.

"I couldn't see anything on that videotape. I couldn't see the style of hair -- the only thing distinctive about that person was white pants. For all I know, you could have been there that day. I don't know who that person was,” said Mitchell’s attorney Blaine Jones.
However, a judge decided there was enough evidence to send the case to trial.
Afterward, friends and family of Wilson celebrated the judge’s decision.
“We’re blessed!” one yelled.
Despite the ruling, Jones doesn’t believe there’s enough evidence for a jury to find his client guilty of killing Wilson.
"I'm very encouraged,” Jones said. “More importantly, Mr. Mitchell is very encouraged because we feel today, his day in court, went very well. We uncovered a lot of evidence. Quite frankly, it went better than I ever anticipated."
Mitchell will be arraigned in common pleas court on Oct. 29 before learning his trial date.
