Teen injured in Mt. Oliver shooting

PITTSBURGH — Police are investigating after a 17-year-old was shot Wednesday night in Mt. Oliver.

Authorities said the teen was standing in one of two groups of people at the intersection of Koehler Street and Arlington Avenue when shots were fired just after 6 p.m.

The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was grazed in the cheek by a bullet. He also apparently fell, hit his head and suffered a possible concussion.

Witnesses reported hearing several shots.

“I heard nine shots and I was taking a nap at the time,” one witness told Channel 11 News. “I came out here and saw all the cop cars.”

Other witnesses said they saw a number of young people fleeing in every direction.

Resident who live on the street tried to help the victim until an ambulance arrived. The teen’s condition has not been released.

Police said it’s unknown what sparked the shooting, and no one has been arrested.
