Tree falls onto wires, cutting power in Aspinwall

ASPINWALL, Pa. — A fallen tree is impacting traffic and electrical service in an Allegheny County community.

The Aspinwall Police Department says the tree fell on Center Avenue, resulting in a power outage.

Photos shared on social media by the department show a tree on the ground, on top of power lines.

Duquesne Light Co. and a tree removal company have been called to the scene, police say.

According to its website, DLC reported about 1,800 power outages in the area as of 6 p.m.

Police say Center Avenue is closed from Sixth Street to West Eighth Street. People are urged to avoid the area and use other routes.
