PITTSBURGH — Power was restored to UPMC Mercy Hospital around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday after a power outage that prompted the use of backup generators, officials said.
A spokesman for the hospital said operating rooms remained functional without any limitations during the outage, but radiology services were down and remained unavailable as of 8 p.m.
According to Duquesne Light, a transformer at the hospital substation overloaded, causing the outage. Crews are still working to determine what caused the overload.

Any patient procedures, surgeries, and/or tests scheduled for Thursday will be performed, the spokesman said.
The hospital spokesman said that while no one was evacuated during the outage, emergency and trauma patients were transported to other medical facilities – most likely to UPMC Presbyterian in Shadyside – as a matter of protocol.
