PITTSBURGH — More than a dozen residents woke up Monday to find that their vehicles had been broken into over the weekend.
"I came around here and saw it all,” Christinia Almendarez said. "I opened the door and the glass fell out."
Almendarez showed Channel 11 the shattered window of her passenger door that was smashed while parked on 10th Street, a short walk away from her home.

Pittsburgh police said 12 other car owners found their windows smashed Saturday morning. The vandals targeted vehicles parked on Bingham Street, a parking lot off 12th Street and Bedford Square.
Investigators told Channel 11 News that some car owners reported their change purse or GPS were stolen from inside their vehicles, but most, including Almendarez, had nothing taken.
"It is still uncomfortable knowing they went through all my stuff,” she said.
Almendarez said she plans to park her vehicle closer to East Carson Street and in a better-lit area.
According to numbers provided by Pittsburgh police, the number of break-ins on South Side over the weekend was more than Shadyside had in June and July and more than half of those reported in Lawrenceville.
