Woman facing charges after allegedly stealing a car, running from police

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A woman is facing charges after allegedly stealing a car with her boyfriend and bringing along a friend’s 3-year-old daughter for the crime.

31-year-old Chelsea Blackburn was arraigned overnight, accused of stealing a car from a delivery driver in Pittsburgh on Monday with her boyfriend.

According to the criminal complaint, Bethel Park Police spotted the stolen car and tried to stop it, but police say that Blackburn took off speeding away. Blackburn later ditched the car on Lutz Lane, the complaint says.

Police then say the three left on foot and ended up at a home on Elm Street, where friend Victoria Faisant lives.

Faisant says that once she noticed Blackburn and her boyfriend were doing drugs, she immediately took the child away.

“When I got home they were in the basement with her,” Faisant said. “I grabbed the baby, took her home.”

But it wasn’t until she pieced things together that she realized Blackburn was involved in a police chase.

“I was on Facebook saw there was a chase in Bethel, a white female, white male and a girl,” Faisant recalled. “I had talked to my best friend and she wasn’t able to get a hold of her daughter for six hours.”

Once she connected the dots, Victoria says she went directly to Bethel Park police and told them that Blackburn was in her basement with her boyfriend.

Moments after Channel 11 spoke with Victoria, Blackburn showed up in front of Victoria’s house.

We asked if she had anything to say about what happened, and she said no.

Channel 11 went on to ask Blackburn if she stole the car, and she said no. After that exchange, she shifted her focus to Victoria Faisant, and her anger with Faisant for turning her in.

“I ain’t losing my kids for this [expletive],” Blackburn said.

Police say that she did admit to the drug paraphernalia that they found in the Elm Street home. Those items included empty syringes and empty stamp bags, which police say are known for injecting and containing heroin.
