PITTSBURGH — Emergency crews responded to a fire at the Hazelwood Towers on Tecumseh Street around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
A woman was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital for treatment.

A neighbor agreed to take in the woman’s dog, which seemed to have suffered from smoke inhalation.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the building.
The fire was contained to the fourth floor and was under control within 20 minutes of crews arriving.
The Salvation Army was present to make sure firefighters were hydrated and the needs of the affected residents were met. The Red Cross was called to assist residents with housing needs.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
