Shortly after, callers reported a crash involving a Nissan and a Dodge Avenger on Route 3 north, before exit 32.
State police say a preliminary investigation suggests the Nissan, driven by a 42-year-old Nashua, New Hampshire, woman, struck the Dodge, driven by a 21-year-old Hudson, New Hampshire man, head on.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was taken to Lowell General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two lanes were closed for more than three hours Monday morning. A car was seen flipped over, resting on its roof at the scene.
