PITTSBURGH — An employee at the Primanti Bros. in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood was assaulted by a customer early Friday morning.
Police said the customer was asked to leave by employees about 2 a.m. because he was disturbing other customers. When he refused, he was pushed out to the sidewalk by employees, at which point he punched one of them in the face.
The employee, who was knocked to the ground by the punch, might have suffered a concussion, Primanti’s operations director Mike Mitcham said. He went to a hospital and his wound required stitches.
“When it comes to our employee, we'll support him with any lost wages and medical bills,” Mitcham said. “Our No. 1 goal is to provide a safe environment for our customers and employees both.”
Mitcham said Primanti’s has a security detail at their Oakland and South Side locations on Friday and Saturday nights.
“With regard to what happened this morning, we are working with police to identify the aggressor and after that we'll fully pursue any charges,” he said.
