Palmer Airport had more delayed departures than most of nation's airports last year

LATROBE, Pa. — Arnold Palmer Regional Airport had more delayed departures than nearly 90 percent of the nation's airport in 2016, according to federal data obtained by Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE.

Spirit Airlines, which is the sole carrier at the airport near Latrobe, turned in one of the worst on-time performances among the nation's top airlines.

Arnold Palmer Regional reported 80 percent of departures occurring on time through November, which puts the airport in the bottom 13 percent of 310 airports with data available.

Flights are considered on time if they operate within 15 minutes of their schedule.

Seventy-four percent of Spirit flights operated on time during the same time period, which means that the airport outperformed its sole airline.
