Police find small marijuana grow operation next to baby's crib

BESSEMER, Pa. — A man is facing charges for a marijuana grow operation that police said was set up in the same room where a 4-month-old baby slept.

Jalen Waters, 22, is the boyfriend of the child’s mother.

Police said they found marijuana and tools and equipment used to grow the drug inside a home in Bessemer, Lawrence County. All the items were next to the child’s crib and toys, police said.

Officers searched the home after receiving a report about a man with a gun fighting with his girlfriend.

Waters is facing charges of manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of children and conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance.

The child was not harmed.
