Police: Hostage Call In Green Tree Apparent Hoax

GREEN TREE, Pa.,None — Police say they've found nothing inside a Green Tree home where a 911 caller claimed a man with a gun and explosives was holding seven people hostage.

The 911 call came in about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and prompted local, Allegheny County, and state police to block off a one-third mile section of Greentree Road, a heavily traveled suburban artery where the hostage situation was allegedly taking place.

Police sent a robot camera into the home, which found nothing. Police believe the family who owns the home is away on vacation and that the 911 call made from an "untraceable" number is a hoax.

The roadway has since reopened.
