A Robert Morris University basketball player has been suspended amid criminal charges.
According to Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE, junior Stephan Bennet is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and public drunkenness following an incident Sunday night.
The school said it can’t comment on disciplinary action, citing privacy laws.
"Per team policy, Stephan Bennett has been suspended from the basketball team pending further investigation," athletic department spokesman Jim Duzyk told TribLIVE. "We cannot comment further on matters pertaining to student discipline owing to our own policies and federal privacy laws."
Bennett, a 6-foot-9 forward from Lake Station, Ind., played in all 32 games this season and had started seven of the team's first eight. He averaged 4.3 points and 18.4 minutes.
Robert Morris faces St. Francis, N.Y., in the NEC tournament championship Tuesday.
