McCANDLESS, Pa. — A report of suspicious person near North Allegheny intermediate Tuesday prompted the lockdown of several schools.
According to the school district the Cumberland Campus, including McKnight Elementary, N.A. Intermediate and Carson Middle schools were on lockdown for about an hour.
School officials said the lockdown was initiated around 10:15 a.m. after a student reported the suspicious person outside of the intermediate school.
“A large contingency of police officers responded to investigate this report. The Cumberland Campus and the immediate area surrounding the campus were searched. The police found the area to be clear and safe,” officials said in a statement on the school’s website.
The schools are now operating as normal.
