PHILADELPHIA — It was a terrifying night a brother and sister will never forget. They were shot while trick-or-treating in Philadelphia. Police think two men were shooting at each other when it happened.
It was a chaotic scene in Olney just before 6:30 p.m. Halloween night. Police believe a 5-year-old boy was shot in the leg and his 14-year-old sister was grazed in her leg after two men began shooting at each other.
"We know that they were trick-or-treating, because at the crime scene, just inches from the shell casings, we found a plastic container, a pumpkin with candy turned over with the candy spilled out," police chief inspector Scott Small told KYW.

Police combed the scene for evidence and collected at least six shell casings. Police say one man was dressed in all black and the other had a red and white mask covering his face.
"These are obviously very brazen, very dangerous Individuals to be firing shots in a residential neighborhood that early in the afternoon, knowing and seeing clearly that there are trick-or-treaters out here," said Small.
What used to be a street full of trick-or-treaters was covered in yellow police tape and spilled buckets of candy left behind by terrified children. Police are hoping to make quick arrests.
Both kids were taken to the hospital and they're expected to fully recover.
