A Canadian family got the surprise of their lives on Friday when Sidney Crosby showed up at their door.
Patricia Lingley-Pottie told the Chronicle Herald that she was tidying up the kitchen when the doorbell rang.
“I was just so full of joy,” she told the newspaper.
The Pottie family put up a sign outside their home in Enfield, Nova Scotia, three weeks ago with the words, “Sid please sign my jersey.”
They knew that the Penguins captain was in the area, but they didn’t know he had apparently seen the sign.
Crosby showed up at the house, even though the sign had already been taken down, and explained that he had seen the sign weeks earlier but was headed out of town and didn't have time to stop.
"He remembered," Lingley-Pottie told the Chronicle Herald.
“He’s a down-to-earth pleasant person, very genuine and polite.”
Crosby stayed about 20 minutes and talked with Patricia and her daughter, Madisyn, who shared this picture taken of her and Crosby on Facebook.
