11 things to do in Pittsburgh this weekend: Oct 27-29

PITTSBURGH — The cold weather has moved in, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying yourself this weekend.

Here are 11 things to check out in and around the city:

1. Check out the Night Market in Market Square on Saturday. This will be the last day of the pop-up market until next year and they're calling it "Fright Up Night." The event will include live music, face painting, costume prizes, drink specials and more.

2. L.L.Bean holds Fall-Foliage Kayak tours across the county, including right here in Pittsburgh on Saturday. It costs $59 dollars a person and you will get your own kayak to follow a guide where you can experience the fall foliage on the water, while the guide shares facts. You will also have a chance to feed the fish on the water's surface.

3. Take a tour of the Hartwood Acres Mansion in Hampton. This weekend they'll be holding a "Haunted Hat Tea & Tour" Saturday. There will be a chance to win a prize if you show up in the "spookiest" hat, and after enjoying tea in the decorated hall, you'll get a tour of the whole mansion.

4. Listen to Ghost stories around a campfire this Saturday at Boyce Park. All kids that attend Campfire Ghost Stories will receive a surprise and anyone who is dressed up has a chance to win a prize as well.

5. The Fort Pitt museum will be holding "Fort Night: Fall Harvest" this Saturday. You will be able to sample from a "historically inspired" menu including bread pudding with bourbon sauce, shepherd's pie and more. The 21+ event will include a lantern tour through Point State Park after dark and a tour of the museum itself.

6. Kennywood's Happy Hauntings is brand new for 2017 and a great event for kids 10 and under. The park will have rides open for the kids such as the Merry-Go-Round, the Auto Race and offer hayrides and pumpkin decorating. Children are welcome to dress in costume.

7. The Carnegie Museum of History will be holding a Halloween "After Dark" event on Friday. The theme is Haunted Museum: Year of the Monster. You are encouraged to come in costume while you dance to music played by a DJ and participate in activities including adult trick-or-treating.

8. Coolspring Corn Maze is considered the "greatest maze on Earth." according to it's website. This corn maze in Mercer obviously the main attraction but it also has mechanical bull riding, a pumpkin blaster, gemstone mining and a "Trail of Fear," which is a haunted maze.

9. Trax Farm's 48th annual fall festival will be taking place all weekend. The events offered at the festival include hayrides, a 3-acre corn maze and pumpkin-picking, a petting zoo, live music and more. They even have fresh hot or cold apple cider on their menu!

10. Ride the Gateway Clipper during their Halloween-themed cruise this weekend. The cruise will be held both Saturday and Sunday. This two-hour cruise will have games, a dance party, prize giveaways, face painting and more. Kids will also get to meet with some familiar characters. All children will receive a Halloween treat bag when they get off the boat.

11. Scarehouse in Etna was voted one of "America's scariest Halloween attractions" by the Travel Channel, according to their website.  It offers three different haunts: Infernal, Nocturnia (which is in 3-D and new for 2017, The Sunset Lodge. They also offer an attraction for people 18 years and older called The Basement. You must sign a waiver before you participate. They will be open all weekend.
