3 hospitalized after fight, stabbing at Shadyside bar

PITTSBURGH — Three people were taken to hospitals early Saturday morning after a fight and stabbing at a bar in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood, police said.

Officers were called about 1 a.m. to Highlander Pub on South Highland Avenue. A 34-year-old man was found inside the bar bleeding from his neck and abdomen, police said.

The man was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition after an officer rendered aid until paramedics arrived, police said.

According to investigators, the fight happened on a patio outside the front entrance to the bar. The victim stumbled through the door after he was stabbed and two men fled in a silver vehicle.

Shortly after 1 a.m., police and paramedics were called to a home on Chaney Court in the city’s Larimer neighborhood. One man at the home had a cut on his arm and another man was stabbed in the abdomen, police said.

Both men had been at Highlander Pub, police said.

The man who had a cut on his arm was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital. The other man was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
