HARRISBURG, Pa. — Five people were arrested in connection with an alleged fentanyl and heroin trafficking and distribution ring stretching from Philadelphia to Butler.
According to a news release from Attorney General Josh Shapiro, the operation moved at least a kilo, more than 2 pounds, of the drugs to resell in Butler County with a street value of $400,000. The ring transported and sold the drugs between January and October of last year.
Desire Feitl, Quinzal Powell, Jodi Shirey, Brandi Zediker and Crystal Pakutz were arrested and charged in the investigation. Officials said Powell facilitated the sale and distribution of more than 50,000 doses of heroin and fentanyl between the opposite sides of the state. Feitl and Pakutz each sold between 12,800 and 41,000 doses of the drugs. Shirey and Zediker worked as dealers for the operation as well, investigators said.
It is believed that the drugs the group peddled in the region “may have led to some overdose deaths in Butler County,” according to the release.
Each of the five people were charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver and other charges.
