CDC out with new data on how people are reacting to COVID-19 vaccine

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are tracking the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines across the U.S.

New data shows how often people are having allergic reactions to the shots.

Only 10 out of 4 million people have suffered severe reactions after receiving the Moderna vaccine.

That’s a rate of 2.5 cases per million doses, which is roughly twice the rate for a typical flu vaccine but still considered rare.

Nine of the patients who suffered severe reactions have a history of allergies to medication and food.

One has a history of allergic reactions to vaccines.

All 10 patients have fully recovered, according to the CDC.

As for the Pfizer vaccine, previously reported data showed a higher allergic reaction rate of 11.1 cases per million doses.
