HAMPTON TOWNHIP, Pa. — The woman accused of abusing a child at a Shaler day care was arrested days before for allegedly having drugs and drug paraphernalia in her vehicle.
Julia Spencer, 19, was arraigned Wednesday on charges that she pushed and shoved a 5-month-old baby at the day care center where she works.

According to Shaler police, Spencer is seen on surveillance video at the Glenshaw Presbyterian Early Learning Center using “significant force” when putting the baby into a bouncy chair.
Detectives said she also slammed the baby down and his head bounced off a padded mattress.

Channel 11 learned Wednesday that Spender had been arrested eight days earlier in the parking lot of a 7-11 in Hampton Township
Police paperwork shows an officer saw Spencer cross the center lane of traffic, and when he pulled her over, he smelled marijuana and allegedly found drug paraphernalia in her car.
Spencer’s drivers license was also suspended at the time, according to police records.
