Ellwood City residents will take electric bill frustrations to polls Tuesday

You don't have to spend much time in Ellwood City to find someone like Eric Weller, a lifelong resident who is fed up with his fluctuating electric bills.

"From $400 down to $180, according to them now the September bill was $712,” Weller said.

11 investigates spent nearly a year speaking with angry customers about Ellwood Electric, the borough run electric company that's been accused of inflating bills.

Four of the seven council seats are up for grabs, with candidates on both sides arguing whether Ellwood Electric should remain a public utility or sign it over to a private company.

In a quiet election season, it's an issue that could have a big impact on Ellwood City's future.

Of the candidates running for those four seats only one currently sits on council. Meaning one way or another, there will be several new voices to determine how to handle Ellwood Electric.
