Fish fries being reminded by Health Department that permit is needed

PITTSBURGH — Fish fries will be starting up as the Lenten season nears, so the Allegheny County Health Department is reminding fish fry sponsors they must have a valid health permit to operate.

“Sponsors that do not already have a valid health permit will need to complete a temporary permit application and provide the permit fee to ACHD no later than Wednesday, February 12, 2020 for timely review and processing,” a news release said.

The application can be found on the Health Department’s website (CLICK HERE).

The fee for a temporary permit is $47. Officials said only checks and money orders will be accepted, made payable to Treasurer of Allegheny County and mailed to: ACHD Food Safety Program, 3901 Penn Avenue, Bldg. #1, Pittsburgh, PA 15224-1318.

If you have a fish fry coming up that you’d like us to know about, send the information to webstaff@wpxi.com.
