Former Pennsylvania Republican Gov. Tom Ridge endorses Joe Biden

PITTSBURGH — Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge is endorsing Joe Biden for president.

Ridge, a Republican, wrote an op-ed for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“I will cast my vote for Joe Biden on Nov. 3. It will be my first vote for a Democratic candidate for president of the United States,” the op-ed begins.

Ridge said it is not the first time he has said “no” to President Donald Trump who, he wrote, “lacks the empathy, integrity, intellect and maturity to lead.”

Ridge formerly served as Homeland Security Secretary in the George W. Bush administration.
