PITTSBURGH — So what exactly do ketchup and the moon landing have in common?
Google Inc. answers that question and many others relating to Pittsburgh as part of its latest installment to its Arts & Culture project that it unveiled on Sept. 29. The website and mobile app versions of the platform aim to capture the art, culture and history behind the Steel City, which is the first in the northeast and fifth in the nation to be featured in the project that also includes similar exhibits for the cities of Milan and Naples, Italy; Lyon, France; and Hamburg, Germany, among others.
To try and tell the narrative of Pittsburgh, Google partnered with 15 local arts and historical organizations to showcase more than 55 stories and 3,200 artifacts from around the region. These organizations join over 2,000 others across 80 countries that are part of the overall Arts & Culture project, which Google first started in 2011.
