Gov. Tom Wolf continues calls to increase state’s minimum wage

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Gov. Tom Wolf continued his call to increase Pennsylvania’s hourly minimum wage.

Right now, it’s at $7.25 per hour. Wolf wants to raise it to $12 per hour on July 1.

His plan also calls for a increase of 50 cents each year until reaching $15 per hour on July 1, 2027.

“The cost of food has gone up. The cost of gas has gone up. Just about everything else has gone up, in fact, since the last time the minimum wage was increase. It’s purchasing powers has dropped by nearly 17%,” Wolf said.

He said his plan would help raise the incomes of more than 1.1 million workers in the state.
