Home undergoing renovations burns in McCandless

McCANDLESS, Pa. — A fire spread inside a home Tuesday morning in McCandless.

Flames broke out shortly before 4 a.m. on Windmill Lane, which is located behind McIntyre Square.

Officials said the fire caused a lot of damage to the back of the house. Flames shot from back windows.

David Turcsanyi walked outside and saw smoke pouring out of the home next to his.

“When I saw as much smoke as there was, I ran around the side of the house to see it was their house,” Turcsanyi, who called 911, said.

No one is living in the home, but whoever owns it has been doing renovations, the assistant fire chief said.

According to neighbors, a family had recently bought the home and planned to move in soon.

Eight fire companies responded and worked to put out the fire.

No one was hurt by the fire. However, a firefighter was treated for dehydration.

A fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, which officials said does not appear to be suspicious.
