Howard Hanna Jr., man who founded real estate company in Pittsburgh, dies at 101

PITTSBURGH — Howard W. Hanna, Jr., the founder of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, died Saturday at the age of 101.

“For those of you who knew him, we hope that you will remember him fondly, including his wonderful handwritten notes and his corny jokes. But most of all you will remember his commitment to his family and to all of our agents and employees at Howard Hanna Real Estate Services,” a post on the real estate company’s Facebook page said.

Hanna founded the company in 1957 in Pittsburgh as the Howard Hanna Company. It has since become the fourth largest real estate company in the country, according to Howard Hanna Real Estate Services’ website.

Hanna served as an American Liaison Officer with the British Army in India in World War II.

Hanna and his wife, Anne, have three children. They also have 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, according to the company’s website.
