WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — Kennywood and Sandcastle are both engaged in online competitions to be nationally recognized.
The Phantom’s Revenge of Kennywood could soon be considered the best roller coaster in America. Its aquatic sibling, Sandcastle, could be named America’s Best Outdoor Water Park.
The opportunity for recognition comes from USA Today. The outlet is hosting several online competitions with their “10 Best” feature. The 10 Best competition takes a group of 20 travel attractions and gives people the opportunity to vote for their favorites. Voters can vote once per day.
Kennywood’s freshly painted Phantom’s Revenge is competing with coasters such as The Incredible Hulk Coaster from Universal Studios and Millennium Force from Cedar Point. The Phantom’s Revenge took the second place spot in the 2021 vote.
Sandcastle is running against parks such as Typhoon Lagoon and Carolina Harbor. The local water park is preparing to open a new waterslide called “Bombs Away.”
