Man charged in New Castle prom threat

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A New Castle man has been charged with threatening to shoot up a school, which promoted the promenade being held at New Castle High School for the prom to be escorted to their vehicles on May 28.

According to the New Castle Police Department, officers received information about a possible threat to students and schools. Investigators said they were able to speak to someone over the phone and it was determined the threats were credible.

“Due to the credible nature of the threats and proximity of the individual to the school, the school was placed on lockdown,” police reported. After that, students and guests were escorted to their vehicles and the event was shut down.

According to the criminal complaint, the caller threatened to shoot up a school or church, and when the cell phone was pinged it was found to be in the area of the New Castle High School.

It was found that the phone number was linked to Clark. He was later arrested and is currently held in the Lawrence County Jail on $300,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 9.
