PITTSBURGH — A man has been arrested in connection with the death of another man who was shot inside a home in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood, police said.
James Linnert, 19, is charged with homicide in the Jan. 20 shooting at a home on Loyal Way.
Linnert told someone else who was inside the home that he and his friend, Joshua Hamilton, were arguing when Hamilton pointed the gun at him, a criminal complaint stated. Linnert claimed Hamilton’s finger must have been on the trigger and the gun went off when he tried to take it from him.
However, a pathologist at the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office told investigators Hamilton’s gunshot wounds did not appear to have been from close contact, contradicting Linnert’s claims about what happened. Based on his findings, the pathologist did not believe it would have been possible for Hamilton to have pulled the trigger.
Hamilton, 19, suffered gunshot wounds to his neck and arm, and the pathologist determined the manner of death to be homicide, according to the complaint.
