BURGETTSTOWN, Pa. — Gerald Cox and Terry Diamond Sr. were in the right place at the right time.
“It’s a miracle I guess, I don’t know,” Cox said.
Cox, a veteran, is battling lung cancer and has a collapsed disc in his back. Last Thursday, Diamond was driving him from Burgettstown to the hospital when they came upon a tanker truck that had rolled over.

“I went up to the truck and I seen the windshield was out and the guy was still strapped in his seatbelt and you could smell propane everywhere,” Cox said.
About 2,000 gallons of propane was leaking onto the road.
“You put yourself aside of what’s going on. It’s a life-or-death situation there,” Diamond said. “I was on the phone with the 911 dispatcher.”
Eventually, they were able to free the driver and shut the truck off before first responders got to the scene.
