Pittsburgh launching new Cold Case Project to look at unsolved homicides

PITTSBURGH — The city of Pittsburgh is set to launch a new multi-year Cold Case Project to continue investigating unsolved homicides.

City officials said they’re using a more than $50,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice for the program through the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Homicide Unit.

The funding will be used to hire retired homicide detectives as consultants and to invest in state of the art equipment and supplies to sort through cold homicide cases.
