OCEAN GROVE, N.J. — Pittsburgh pianist Gabriel D’Abruzzo drowned while vacationing with his family in Ocean Grove, New Jersey on Monday.
D'Abruzzo went to Duquesne University and also taught there.
His family told Channel 11 music meant everything to him and they're finding comfort in knowing he was living out his dream.
"I was going to talk to my son and daughter before we went out there to the beach, and say, 'This is what you do if you get caught in a rip tide," said Pamela D'Abruzzo, his mother.
