PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police K-9 comfort dog Zane is celebrating a big milestone – his first birthday.

Officers at Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Zone 4 threw a party for the birthday dog, and it included cake and a new toy.

Zane is the department’s first comfort dog and is used for peer support, critical incidents and community outreach.

Since Zane’s debut, the golden retriever has worked all over the city, visiting firefighters and school children, hospital workers and even the Pirate Parrot.
