PNC Carousel in Schenley Plaza opens for its 16th season

PITTSBURGH — The PNC Carousel in Schenley Plaza in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood opened for its 16th season on Monday.

The carousel features not only a horse, but also a camel, elephant, giraffe, ostrich, rabbit, seahorse, and other animals, which Pittsburgh Parks Conservatory said is meant to represent the diversity of Pittsburgh and its people.

“We are excited for another season of the recently-renovated PNC Carousel,” said Shawn Fertitta, director of visitor experience for the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. “Opening day always signifies that summer is ahead and Schenley Plaza, with its multiple restaurants, large open green space, and of course, the beloved merry-go-round, provides the perfect afternoon experience for all families.”

The carousel operates Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with modified hours on holidays and inclement weather.

Family passes are available for $60, or tokens can be purchased for $2 per ride. Riders can also show their SNAP/ACCESS card to a free ride.
