JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. — UPDATE 7:30 AM (10/14/17) The man who was hit and killed by a car has been identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.
Ernest Boyd, 44, was struck by a vehicle while walking in the dark on the "traveling portion" of the roadway.
The accident took place near the 1300 block of Route 51 in Jefferson Hills around 7:20 p.m. Friday.

A man has died after being hit by a car in Jefferson Hills.
Police were called to Route 51 around 7:20 p.m. Friday for the crash.
According to police, the man was killed instantly.

The vehicle that hit the man remained on the roadway, and the driver was cooperating with police.
The people in the car had minor injuries.
A preliminary investigation indicates the man was walking in the dark on the roadway when he was hit.
